Vehicle to be offered for Auction sale January 16th - 20th, 2013 at Russo and Steele's 13th Annual Scottsdale Arizona Auction
Offered for sale is a 1966 Jaguar 3.8 S-type Saloon with Vin. # P1B79246BW. The original "S-type" Jaguars are very special as only about 51 of the 3.8 LHD automatics are still in the USA.
It was appraised by American Automotive Appraisal at $95,000.00 on 8/13/2011.
It has a Jaguar/Daimler Heritage Trust Cert. # 15312 which shows the build date of 2-14-66. The car had 60,000 miles on it. The consignor joined the "Michigan Jaguar Club" in September 1989 and drove to all meetings and events winning the "Most Active Award" more than once along with other Trophies.
In 1989 the brakes, transmission, rear end were replaced and 5 Michelin 185-15 tires installed along with the original A/C system that was removed from a MK.II, striped for racing.It has new S.S. wire wheels, re-chromed bumpers & other parts and a rack and pinion kit from "XL's Unlimited." It has new ball joints and other front end parts and the the engine was rebuilt to original specks. Re-placed the "BW three speed automatic" with a "GM 700 four speed transmission", new brake calipers and pads added to finish the mechanicals. Refinished all the wood with 20 coats of lacquer, sanded with 2000 paper and polished.
A complete "Leather Interior kit" was purchased from "Bartlett's" was installed and white wall tires were added to finish the look.
Only 25,171 S-types produced between 1964 -1968
This car was entered this year in the Phoenix JCNA "Concurs d'Elegance", at the AGM meeting, It's score sheet shows Class D05 with a score of 9.872 with a deduction of .07 points for no back up lights which are now repaired so the score would be 9.942
